Diwali Mela
A mela is part festival, part fair and part family day out, and this Diwali we’re throwing our own. On Saturday 7th November, Kricket Canary Wharf is being taken over by drums, games, art and an unreasonable amount of biryani. The whole family’s invited, from tiny tots to grandparents who insist they were carrom champions back in the day.
Leading the creative charge is artist and friend of Kricket, Natasha Kumar. You may have spotted her work on our walls, and she stole the show at our Canary Wharf Diwali celebration two years ago, so naturally we’ve asked her back. She’s bringing a screen printing station, with fellow artists Ben Allen and Adam Bridgland on hand, so you can customise your own Kumar print with glitter and go home with something far cooler than a party bag.
On arrival, you’ll be greeted by a dhol drummer, and the team from @karrom_uk will teach you the classic flick-and-pocket tabletop game (friendly rivalries encouraged, sulking discouraged). Our henna and face painting artists will have everyone looking the part, and the biryani, chai and fresh lime soda are all bottomless, so refuel as often as you like.
Kricket Canary Wharf is wheelchair accessible; however, space in the room may be tight at certain times as people take part in activities and move through the room.
